Carl “Gene” Eugene Pittman, Sr was born January 1, 1939 and passed away March 19, 2017 at the age of 78. He was born in Pittsburgh, KS and then moved to Houston at the age of 15. He graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1957 and married his beloved wife, Marie, on August 6, 1961 at Assumption Catholic Church. Being an entrepreneur at heart, he explored numerous career paths including a home repair business and a sandwich shop. He was flipping houses and running a food truck long before TV shows promoted them as a career. He also went back to school much later in life to become a certified respiratory therapist. Gene’s life was extended in 1998 thanks to the wonderful doctors and staff at the Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center, who continued to care for him until his final breath. With the recent death of his wife Marie of 55 years, he is survived by his daughter Ann Pittman Menou, her husband Mark, and their children Ashley, Corey and Michelle of Baton Rouge, LA; and his son Carl E Pittman Jr, his wife Kara, and their children Taylor and Austin of The Woodlands, Tx. A private family service will be held for him. In lieu of flowers, the family would request a donation to the Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center in his honor.
