

Chester Dewey Brown, Jr, 94, went to be with his Lord and Savior and his beloved wife Daisy on January 17, 2016 in Conroe, Texas. He was born in Austin, Texas on March 22, 1921 to Chester Dewey Brown, Sr. and Ora Lee Williams Brown. Chester graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. He was a Captain in the Marine Corp and served in World War II at Okinawa and the occupation of Japan. He later was called back to serve in the Korean Conflict. He worked for Gulf Oil/Chevron his entire career. Chester married Daisy Means Brown on October 12, 1946 in Temple, Texas. He is survived by his daughters Gay Nolan (Tom) and Jennifer Rodman (Tim). Also surviving are grandchildren Jim Ohlenburg (Amanda), John Ohlenburg (Alicia), Scott Rodman (Danielle) and Keely Van Essen (Seth), five great grandchildren and one sister, Evelyne Knippa of Austin. He was loved so much and was truly one of the Greatest Generation. Services will be held Tuesday, January 26, at Metcalf Funeral Home, 1801 White Oak Terrance in Conroe at 11:00 with burial service to follow at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas at 1:00 p.m.
