Chris Warren McDonald, a beloved man known for his loving, generous, and charismatic personality, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on September 27, 1963, in Tomball, Texas, he was the son of Patsy and Kenneth McDonald.
From a young age, faith was instilled in Chris by his family, laying the foundation for the strong Christian man he would become. He approached every challenge in life with unwavering faith and devotion.
Chris had a remarkable ability to form deep friendships wherever he went. People were drawn to his magnetic personality throughout his life. He often joked that he had "two mothers," a sentiment that reflected the close bond he shared with his sister, Diane. Diane was his best friend, protector, and the one who always kept him in line. Together, they navigated life with love, laughter, and a shared history.
Chris had a lifelong passion for football. He played the game in his younger years and remained a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan throughout his life. He also found his true love and best friend in Khela McDonald. The two were inseparable, and Chris became her protector, always standing by her side. Together, they raised their sons—Drew, Kyle, Brendan, and Ethan—instilling in them the values of respect, hard work, love, and faith.
An avid hunter, Chris cherished the time spent outdoors with his father and friends. He loved to share stories of his adventures, and nothing made him happier than enjoying fried backstrap and gravy. Chris also had a passion for racing, often found at local dirt tracks with his brother-in-law, Darrell, racing toward the front or celebrating with a checkered flag in hand. His garage, filled with trophies, was a testament to his competitive spirit and love for the sport.
Chris’s independent spirit and zest for life drew many lifelong friends, with whom he shared both joyful and challenging memories. Above all, Chris took great pride in his grandchildren—Addaline, Clayton, and Ryder—and loved spoiling them at every opportunity. He also found immense joy in cooking for his family and friends, often tending to the barbecue pit, a beloved tradition in the McDonald family.
Chris lived a life full of love, kindness, and generosity. He had a big heart and gave of himself freely, always putting others before himself. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Khela McDonald; sons Drew (Chelsea) Dolson, Kyle Dolson, Brendan Dolson, and Ethan McDonald; his beloved sister, Diane (Darrell) McGee; and his cherished grandchildren, Addaline, Clayton, and Ryder Dolson.
Chris’s legacy of love, faith, and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
A celebration of life for Chris will be held Friday, January 31, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Metcalf Funeral Directors, 1801 E White Oak Terrace, Conroe, Texas.
