2 Timothy 4:7
Christopher Joel Williamson, 49, of Montgomery, TX went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 26, 2025, surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on October 14, 1976, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to Tommy Williamson and Carolyn Hollingsworth Williamson.
Chris was a proud graduate of Collins High School and The University of Southern Mississippi. He built a lifelong and accomplished career in the oil and gas industry, beginning with Baker Petrolite, where his work moved him to beautiful places and introduced him to lifelong friends and mentors. Later, Chris became the CEO and Co-Founder of NEXGEN Chemical Technologies and most recently served as Executive Advisor to the Board for Capture Energy, LLC. His leadership, generosity, and integrity made a lasting impact on all who worked with him.
Outside of his professional life, Chris was a devoted husband and father, avid outdoorsman, and extremely loyal friend. He loved hunting, riding his tractor, listening to music, and most of all, watching his son Camp grow and being present for him in everything he did. Whether it was watching him on a sports field, in a deer blind or having “man time” Chris cherished every moment spent teaching Camp about life, friendship, and perseverance.
Chris will be remembered for his kindness, warm heart, and generous spirit. He was a mentor to many and a steady source of encouragement to everyone he met. He will always be remembered for reminding us “What a day to be alive!”, which perfectly captured his joy and gratitude for life.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Eula and Virgil Hollingsworth; paternal grandparents, Louise and James Williamson; brother-in-law Wes Smith.
Chris is survived by his wife of twenty-one years, Gretchen Spring Williamson; son, John Campbell “Camp” Williamson; mother Carolyn Hollingsworth Williamson; father, Tommy Williamson; brother, Tim Williamson(Heather); mother-in-law, Debra Spring; father-in-law, Hollis Eugene “Gene” Spring; sister-in-law, Carrie Beth Smith and her fiancé Wesley Edwards; nieces, Anna-Kate Loftus(Josh) and Kilie Williamson; nephews, Tyler Williamson and Tripp and John Hollis Smith; and a host of aunts and uncles and cousins.
Chris was integral in fostering the development of young men in their Christian walk with an organization called Full Armour. In lieu of flowers, he would love the mission to be continued forward in his remembrance through donations to this Christian Men’s Group.
