Cloe Ann was born on March 14, 1934 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Fred and Jewel Malin of Shreveport, Louisianna. Her family later moved to Smithville, Texas where she attended high school. During her tenure at Smithville High she was active in the Drill Squad, Library Club, and FHA. It was here in Smithville at a church tent revival where she met the love of her life, Billy Joe “Pete” Hayes. They became engaged while she was a senior and after graduating, eloped, and were married in Henrietta, Texas on September 18, 1952. Her love preceded her in death in November of 2022 after 70 years of marriage. A match made in Heaven as they say. She missed Pete so much.
Her family remembers her as a dedicated and loving wife, mother, mother in law, grandmother, and friend to many. The family always came first to her. She would host birthdays and holiday gatherings for each family member and was an awesome cook, so it wasn’t too hard to get the family together with her cooking abilities. And, there was always chocolate involved (her weakness) somewhere in the food spread.
Cloe Ann and Pete were members of Oak Ridge Baptist Church and participated in church activities for many years. She was always disheartened if she could not attend bible study or services for one reason or another. Her good friends there were an inspiration and comfort to her.
In lieu of flowers, the family request a donation to the Building Fund in the memory of Cloe Ann Hayes to:
