Clyde E. Adams passed away Wednesday May 2, 2018 at his home in Conroe, Texas, at the age of 88. A native of Marin County, California, Clyde was born on May 23, 1929, the second son of William L. and Florence Saunders Adams. He grew up in Sausalito and Corte Madera, and graduated from Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley, California in 1947, and attended the College of Marin. Clyde married his Tam High classmate, Barbara Ann Rankin on September 2, 1951. Ten days later he shipped out for Korea, where he served two years in the 1st Cavalry Division. After his return home, Clyde took up a career in the automotive industry and he and Barbara relocated to Novato, California in 1954, where they lived for the next sixty-three years. Clyde had a career of 40-plus years as a member of Machinists Local 1305 of the International Association of Machinists. His leisure activities revolved around horsepower too, as his favorite pastimes were restoring antique cars and boating. In retirement, Clyde and Barbara took up touring in their RV, and especially enjoyed traveling the U.S. to visit their far-flung family. A devoted husband, great father and faithful friend, Clyde is survived by his loving wife Barbara Ann, of Conroe, Texas. He is also survived by his daughter Nancy Adams Kwiecien and son-in-law Dennis Kwiecien of Conroe; his son Steven Adams and daughter-in-law Penny Adams, and grandchildren Austin Adams and Adrianna Adams, all of Boulder, Colorado. He is also survived by an extended family of nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss his sense of humor, adventure, and good nature. A memorial service will be held at Woodhaven Village Retirement Community, 22 Riverway Drive in Conroe on Saturday May 5, at 10:00 AM. The family extends their gratitude for the wonderful care and support extended by the staff of Woodhaven Village, where Clyde and Barbara have resided since July of 2017. Interment will be at Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael, California at a later date.
