Curtis Lee Rainwater was born at his home in Jones County, Texas on July 4, 1937 to parents Mary Eura Evelyn Maxwell Rainwater and Archie Lee Rainwater. Curtis passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on August 8, 2021.
Curtis graduated from Lubbock High School in 1957 and was a long-time resident of the Conroe, Texas area. Curtis worked as a Sulphur trader and retired from Trammo, Inc. after 32 years of service. He earned many awards and honors throughout his career and was a Lifetime Member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Curtis had a passion for photography, woodworking, cooking, traveling, and was a licensed auctioneer. His friends describe him as a great friend and a gentle soul.
Curtis is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Gary Rainwater.
Those left behind to cherish Curtis’s memory are his wife of 26 years, Dorothy Rainwater; his daughter Susan Rainwater of Pensacola, Florida, his son Chad Rainwater and wife Amy of Montgomery, Texas, and daughter, Kimberly Shaw and husband Neil of Las Vegas, Nevada; his sister Beth Scoggin; his grandchildren Kendall Rainwater, Ridge Rainwater, Jacob Sewell, Sydney Gribble, and Kaitlin Easter; three great-granddaughters and a great-grandson who’s on the way; and his favorite pup Cricket.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Metcalf Funeral Directors at 1801 E. White Oak Terrace, Conroe, Texas 77304.
