Darwin William Foster

Darwin was born March 6, 1925, in Patmos AR to Clemmons and Lavonia Foster. He was the seventh of nine children, and is survived by his two younger sisters, Louise Binford and Marilou Williams.

Darwin moved to Houston, TX in 1936. He served in the Navy during World War ll, where he was an aircraft mechanic. After being discharged, he eventually returned to Houston, where he worked over 30 years for Houston Lighting and Power as head mechanic.

He is a member of First Montgomery Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was active with the Lone Star Honor Flight Veterans’ Group.

He was proceeded in death by his precious wife, of 65 years, Bettie. He is survived by his three children, Daughters, Sharon Yaw and husband Harvey, and Elaine Jernigan, Son, Bill Foster and wife Lori: six grandchildren, Christy Antilley and husband Jason, Robin Traylor and husband Scott, Kelly Lawson and husband Jamie, Garrett Foster and fiance Lacey Boney, Thomas Jernigan and Jessica Foster: six great-grandchildren Allyson and Blake Antilley, Baileigh Traylor, Scarlett and Shepard Lawson and Lyla Foster.

Visitation will be held, Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM at Metcalf Funeral Home in Conroe. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 17, 2023, 2:00 PM at First Montgomery Baptist Church. Followed by graveside services at Copeland Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers, Randy Foster, Steven Foster, Gary Horner, Darrell May, Charlie Michalak, Gary Miller; Honorary Pallbearers, John Bowers, David Cusick, Jim Goddard, Vince Yearwood and Jimmy Tubbs.
