

Funeral services for Dorothia Ruth Koenig Parten will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 3:00pm in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Bro. Jack Therrell officiating. Interment will follow in Copeland Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 17, 2010 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home. Born January 8, 1920 to Charlie and Beulah Koenig in Conroe Texas, passed away August 15, 2010 in Montgomery Texas. Known to many as simply Aunt Ruth, Granny Ruth by her grandchildren and often referred to herself as the Go-Go girl because she was always on the go. She lived her life as a farm girl who was raised during the Great Depression. She was conservative; who never took for granted the value of hard work. She was a member of the Conroe High School Class of 1937. After graduation she attended Blinn JR. College then went to work at Gulf Oil Company in 1945 where she retired and then went to work for Gulf Employee Federal Credit Union where she also retired. Ruth formed Ruth’s Hobbies working on gem trees and various other arts and crafts. She enjoyed doing the gem shows and meeting people from all walks of life. Aunt Ruth was a member of Rabon Chapel Church of Christ, a lifelong member of Rothwell Chapter #669 Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Matron 1969 - 1970 with over 300 service hours visiting shut-ins and ill members. She showed Love and support to many, only desiring to be loved in return.
She was preceded in death by husband Milton Ray Parten, parents Charlie and Beulah Koenig, brothers Charlie Koenig Jr., Alfred and wife Katherine Koenig, niece Diane Koenig Mixon, great nephew Ron Simpson and Lyndon C. Koenig. She is survived by Step Sons, Dr. Clifford Parten and wife Linda of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, Dr. Michael Parten and wife Brenda of Lubbock, Texas, Nieces, Vonnie and husband Jimmy Hasara, Verda Koenig Simpson, Doris and husband Bruce Brown and Nephew, Glen and wife Rachel Koenig. Grand children Alec, Ian, Linden, Evan, Aidan, Tanith Parten of Tennessee, Brian and wife Ginger Parten of Wiley, Texas Great Grand Children Sierra, Jesse, and Dakota Parten of Texas. Great Nephew Jared Koenig and wife Constance of Anna Texas, Great Niece Beverly Jones and husband Brad of Arp Texas. Great great nieces Ellen Ashly Newberry, Kayla Laken Simpson, Allie Marie Koenig and Brandi Jones, great great nephews Austin Lusk and Austin Jones. A special thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice and to caregivers and adopted family Gladys Hensleit and Al Armijo.
