Dorsey Willson Brewer was born December 5, 1958 in Waco Texas to John and Dottie Brewer. He passed away doing what he loved on August 17th in Houston Texas. He was proceeded in death by his parents John and Dottie Brewer and his siblings John Jr, Diane and Hogan Brewer. He is survived by his children Jessica Deiss, Chancey and Samantha Brewer, and Brent Brewer. Along with his grandchildren Kody, Bella and Tyler Deiss, and Carlee, Ryley, Addi and Liam Brewer. He is also survived by his dogs Pookie and Lucy.
Dorsey spent most of his life as a truck driver. It was something that he was very proud of and extremely good at. Dorsey started trucking at 15, driving team with his dad. They traveled the United States and Canada, even going as far as Alaska. They had many adventures. Dorsey eventually spent time driving for himself and parents for Brewer Trucking. While driving for them he prided himself on how fast his truck would go. He always wanted it to go faster. He took pride in his work and the way his truck looked. While driving he would always be quick to point out how bad those damn SWIFT drivers were, and how other people couldn’t tie down their loads. He enjoyed taking his children with him on runs and showing others how to do the job right. Dorsey spent the last few years of his life driving heavy haul for Boyer Inc. He had many friends there and was always quick to help someone in need.
When Dorsey wasn’t driving, he was building speaker boxes or smoking a brisket, sometimes having a brisket on while building a box. He’d spend hours on both. He said all you needed for a good brisket was salt and pepper, and all you ever needed for a good stereo was more bass. He loved listening to music and would often call his children to tell them to listen to the next new person he found on YouTube.
Dorsey was always there for not only his children, but others as well. No matter what he was going through he would always stop and talk or listen, whichever you needed. He never judged and always offered a new perspective on situations. He was a kind and generous and would give you the shirt off his back.
He will be greatly missed by many people.
