

Edward Charles "Ed" Oberthier, 58 passed away 2/7/2017, surrounded by his family. Ed was born in Houston, Texas and was a longtime resident of Walden on Lake Conroe. Ed, athletically inclined, played baseball, football and was a key member of the Conroe Tiger HS golf team. After graduating from Conroe High School, Ed went on to receive a Mechanical Engineering Degree from Texas A&M, class of 1981. He worked for Elliott Co.(Turbines and Compressors) in Houston for 29 years before leaving to start his own company, Ecotech in 2011. Ed was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and golfing- winning numerous area tournaments over the years. He passed that talent on to his daughter who inherited his long distance off the tee. Ed married his high school sweetheart, Cindy, in 1978 and they celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary in December. Ed loved to laugh, tell jokes and stories, with a certain "evolution" over time. He never met a stranger and would readily engage anyone in conversation. He dignified those around him no matter their walk in life. Ed was proceeded in death by his mother, Dorothy Fay "Dot" Oberthier and his father, E.C. "Buck" Oberthier. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Bodemann Oberthier and his daughter, Abbigale "Abby" Downs; Aunt and Uncle; Sue and Jim Anderson, cousins; Charlie Cochran, Jana Garner, and Jane Joyce; son-in-law, Joshua "Josh" Downs, mother-in-law, Gloria Bodemann, sister-in-law Theresa Currie, brothers in-law John Bodemann and James Currie; nieces and nephew; Danielle and Sara Bodemann and Kyle and Opal Currie.
