Ellis "Smitty" Horton Smith

Ellis grew up in and around the Monticello and Frazer area of Kentucky. He was a member of The John W. Weeks, DD 701 “Leaky Weeks” Group and The Fraternal Order of Eagles in Bolivar. Ellis enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR races, and growing tomatoes in his garden. There was not a single thing that man could not build, from tables to greenhouses.

Ellis was preceded in death by his loving wife in 2004, Jimmie, both his parents, sister Ninnie Coffey, and brother Cecil Smith, and niece Jan Melvin. He is survived by his children Steve Smith and wife Annie, Kelley Smith and wife Claudia, and Jennifer Dunning and husband Chris, grandchildren Justin Smith and wife Samantha, Josh Ginn, Sharon Ulbritch and husband Weston, Char Galvan and husband Daniel, Randy Rasmussen, and Kendra Crowe and husband Mason, great grandchildren Thomas, Tinley, Damon, Sophie, Dahlia, Olivia, Treston, Kaylie, Linley, and Landyn, great niece Leslie McDonald and husband Greg and their daughter Morgan, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home with burial to follow in Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 1st. Pallbearers will be Justin Smith, Randy Rasmussen, Mason Crowe, Weston Ulbritch. Josh Ginn, Daniel Galvan, and Oscar Mendieta.
