Our beloved wife and mother, Florence Jo Lamont passed away peacefully on September 20, 2021 in Conroe, Texas. Her husband, Ronald G Lamont, and her family were at her side as the Lord welcomed her home. Florence, or as her friends would call her, Ms. Flo, was 76 years old. Florence was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Minnie P Chatkin and her father, James A Haynie.
Florence was born in Houston, Texas on January 28, 1945 and spent her childhood growing up in Houston and Bryan, Texas surrounded by her loving family and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. On August 26, 1962, Florence married the love of her life, Ronald Gene Lamont and began their married journey that would last 59 years. Their journey would lovingly welcome two sons and two daughters, Kimberly, Ronald, Jr, Adrienne and Christopher. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Florence shared her love and generosity with all. Be it through her numerous volunteer activities or sharing her amazing cooking talents with friends, many beyond her family benefitted from her loving and kind spirit. As a devoted Catholic, Florence enjoyed attending mass and supporting Sacred Heart Church in Conroe. As an entrepreneur, Florence was the successful proprietor of two restaurants in the Cypress and Tomball areas. After her family moved to Willis, Texas in 1991, Florence enjoyed a successful career in transportation with the Montgomery ISD and Willis ISD. Throughout her career, she received many accolades for her work and volunteer endeavors.
Florence is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Gene Lamont, Sr.; Daughters Kimberly Lamont and Adrienne Gurrola and husband David; Sons Ronald Gene Lamont, Jr and wife Stacey, and Christopher Lamont; Six Grandchildren Jeremy Lamont and partner Tammi Card, Anna "Katy” Gurrola, Luke Anthony Gurrola, Drew Lamont and wife Lindsay, Sara Bean and husband John, and Matthew Lamont; Three Great-grandchildren Celeste Lamont, Tinsley Bean and Greyson Bean along with her honorary son, Kenneth Willis and honorary daughter, Marisa Philipello Zamarripa and a host of godchildren, cousins and numerous friends.
Visitation with family and friends will be Tuesday, September 28, 2021 from 5:00pm till 7:00pm immediately followed by the Rosary at 7:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 10:00am at Cashner Funeral Home followed by mausoleum internment at Garden Park Cemetery (adjacent to Cashner Funeral Home).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Florence’s favorite charity St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
