Frank was born Sept. 30, 1937 to Frank “Bud” and Jo Groves in Newgulf, Texas. He graduated from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, in 1959. He met his wife, Carol in Beaumont, Texas and they were married on December 21,1963. They were happily married for 57 years before Carol’s passing in 2021.
They raised 2 daughters in Lumberton, Texas where Frank worked as a purchasing agent for Gulf States Utilities from which he retired. He enjoyed fishing and hunting during those years. He was a member of many civic organizations including the Lions Club and Lumberton MUD where he served for 10 years, 5 years as board president.
He and Carol moved to April Sound in Montgomery, TX in 1996. They loved their community and developed many lifelong friendships. Frank played golf and spent time as a marshall for the golf course. During retirement he and Carol traveled for years with friends and family throughout the world. They enjoyed visiting wineries and Frank was instrumental in the inception of the April Sound Wine Society which they greatly enjoyed.
Frank is survived by his two loving daughters, Ruth Hermes and husband, Doug of Austin, Texas, and Regina Clark and husband, Tim of Lenoir, North Carolina and his four beloved grandchildren, Christopher Clark of New York, New York, Nicholas Clark of Chicago, Illinois, Casey Clark and wife, Kierra of Atlanta, Georgia, and Rachel Hermes of Austin, Texas.
A funeral mass for Frank will be held Monday, August 25, 2025 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 8227 County Road 205, Plantersville, Texas 77363 with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
