Harold Eugene Van Dyke passed mercifully into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 1, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with two kinds of cancers. He was born in Chita, Texas on August 16, 1932. He earned two degrees, one a Bachelors from Sam Houston State University and his Masters from University of Houston separated by service in the U S Army during the Korean conflict. His career started in Houston at Tennessee Gas Transmission that became Tenneco. Later he was a Controller with Applied Rubber Technology in Conroe, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Garrett and Arbour Van Dyke, daughter Tammy Van Dyke Kyle, sister Barbara Van Dyke Andrews and brothers-in-law Everett and Bill Evins. Harold is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Janie Evins Van Dyke; daughter Tracy Van Dyke Chunn and son-in-law Terry; granddaughter Taylor Paige Chunn, and sister-in-law Carolyn Evins, and nieces Lindsey and Aimee Evins. His love of animals and the caring for them brought him great joy, especially his little black poodle and constant companion Callie. Visitation will be at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas on Wednesday April 3, 2013 from 5-7 PM. Harold was a member of The Woodlands United Methodist Church where a service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. A reception will follow in the Jones Library. Gravesite services will be at 2:30 that afternoon at Garden Park Cemetery in Conroe, Texas. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to M.D. Anderson Melanoma research or The Woodlands United Methodist Church “Imagine” Building Program.
