Our beloved father, Hector Cordero Vega, a City of Conroe resident and being two weeks shy of 100 years old, passed away in his sleep on Monday January 9, 2023. He was preceded by his wife Edith and survived by two sons, their spouses, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson; an additional couple of grandkids are due in April 2023. His sense of humor, the times he played with all of his grandkids, and the humourous songs he would come up with will never be forgotten.
Dad was a retired US Military Colonel who was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. During the Korean conflict, he was assigned to the X Corps. He was captured in the line of duty in December 1950 and released from a POW camp in 1953. He remained on active duty until 1958, during which time he completed Law School. After that, he continued his military career as a reservist, eventually retiring as a Colonel. He later became an appointed Judge on the Island of Puerto Rico. He was a simple man who wore many hats: lawyer, politician, and bank chairman.
We will miss him forever. Happy trails Papi, until we meet again!
