Ione Emily Dunkel

Ione Emily Dunkel, age 100, passed away on Monday September 9, 2019, near her family in Conroe, Texas. She was born in Krydor, Saskatchewan, Canada on December 6, 1918 to Emil and Minnie Stay. She was the eldest of 5 daughters.

Ione attended a Women's Business College and worked as an Executive Secretary for Dow Chemical. She was married to Harold for 51 years and raising her daughters was her passion. She loved vacationing in Florida where they eventually moved after retiring. Previously she and her husband resided in Detroit, Michigan and then Indianapolis, Indiana, where her daughters were born and raised. Ione also realized her dream of visiting Hawaii with her husband.

Ione is survived by her two daughters, Karen Heminger, Diane Dunkel-Newton, and her sister Joan Snyder. Ione is predeceased by her husband Harold Dunkel, and her sisters Cleone Mogle, Freda Thompson and Lois Larson.

The family will scatter her ashes into the Gulf of Mexico near Florida in a private ceremony at a later date.
