

Funeral services will be held for Jack K. Benson, 88, on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. at Cashner Colonial Chapel with Pastor Cindy Hinson officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 13, 2011 at Cashner Funeral Home. Jack was born on July 15, 1922 in Kansas City, Missouri to Katherine Rebecca and David Crockett Benson and passed away on June 11, 2011 at Odyssey House Hospice, in Conroe, Texas. Jack was a charter member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Jack retired from Texaco Chemical in July of 1983. Jack served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a Yeoman 1st Class and was stationed at the U.S. Submarine Base at Dutch Harbor, Alaska from May 1943 until January 1945. He was then sent to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii until the end of the war and was discharged in November 1945 at San Pedro, California. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Luella; son Jack K. Benson Jr. and wife Alice, son David W. Benson and wife Patti; granddaughters Alissa Ellis and husband John and Julianne Coogler and husband Clint; grandsons Christopher Benson and fiancé Mindy and Dustin Benson and four great-grandchildren and a host of friends. The family wishes to thank Odyssey House Hospice for the wonderful care given to Jack and for their love and support to our family.
