He was born October 4, 1922 in Timpson, TX to James M. and Ada Nolen Johnson. James served in the United States Army in the 101st airborne parachute infantry from 1944 to 1946 and worked as a butcher for over 60 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 62 years, Jessie Fay Lakey Johnson, Daughter, Lynn Johnson Harrison, son-in-law, RL Harrison, Jr., and granddaughter Crystal Johnson Bynum.
James is survived by son Gerald Johnson and wife Clevia; Granddaughter Kimberly Johnson Sink and husband Carey; Great granddaughter Kirsten Bynum; Great grandsons, Kyle Sink and Kade Sink and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Cashner Funeral Home with Daryl Clenney to officiate.
