Jerry Glenn Bettes

Jerry Glen Bettes was born in Cooper, Texas on September 10, 1939. He went to be with the Lord on March 24, 2017 at the age of 77. Jerry worked as an IT Supervisor installing and maintaining mainframe computer systems. Jerry traveled from Europe to Malaysia bringing information technology to the world. Jerry was devoted to his wife Virginia. Jerry was a man who loved all of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and made sure they knew it. He always had a heartfelt word for all of us and sound advice whenever it was needed. Hopefully he imparted his wisdom to all of us to be passed from generation to generation. He was always there when any one of us needed him and would do whatever needed to be done. He loved to fish, play cards and just hang out with family as much as he could. He led his family by example and that hopefully has made us all better people. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, J. D. and Mozelle Bettes, his older brother, Harold J. and his daughter, Angela. Jerry leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Virginia, sons, Randy and wife Caryn, Barry and wife Cindy, Jay and wife Colleen, Ricky Derkowski and wife Lynn and daughter, Connie Pyburn and husband Don. He also leaves behind his brother, Sam Bettes with his wife Judy, and sister, Judy Kitterman and her husband, Jim. Jerry also leaves as his legacy 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Pallbearers are his grandsons, Rodney Cheatham, Wesley Cheatham, Joshua Bettes, William Dunning, Logan Bettes, and Rick Derkowski. Honorary pallbearer is Gaige Martin. Visitation for Jerry will be on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home with funeral service starting at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Garden Park Cemetery.
