

Jerry was born November 19, 1935, in Huntsville, TX. He graduated from Huntsville High School in Huntsville, TX. Jerry attended Sam Houston State University, then met his wife Jeanette in Austin, and they married on January 29, 1960. Jeanette and Jerry traveled with the internal audit team for the IRS for several years. While traveling, they welcomed their daughters Camille and Michelle. When it was time for the children to go to school, he continued to work for the IRS and settled in Austin.
Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing and Westlake football games. Jerry and Jeanette followed the team and attended games, long after their children graduated. He loved fishing with his grandson Bennett and going on trips with him.
After retirement, Jerry and Jeanette moved to New Braunfels, TX. After Jeanette was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, they decided it was best to move. In 2021, they moved to their Port O’Connor, TX cabin, before moving to Beaufort, SC where their daughter Michelle lives now. He was diagnosed with congestive heart failure this summer.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Agnes Prentice.
He was survived by his wife of 64 years, Jeanette Prentice who passed away September 19, 2024. He is also survived by his brother, Dixon Prentice; his sister, Margaret (John Dyson) Prentice; his daughters, Camille (Steve) Hamilton and Michelle (Josh Gibson) Prentice; grandson, Bennett (Aimee) Hamilton; 3 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be September 26, 2024, at 10:30 in the Huntsville Cemetery - Mayes Addition.
