Jimmie “Brooks” Bolton, 85, was born May 17, 1940, in Levelland, Texas, and passed away on March 26, 2026. A hard-working man through every season of life, Brooks built his days with steady hands, a determined mind, and a deep love for the people he called family. From beginning to end, his story was one of devotion and the kind of quiet strength that leaves a lasting mark.
Born to Jimmie and Hazel Bolton, Brooks lived in Texas until he was 8 years old. He then spent his childhood in Juneau, Alaska, where his father served as a preacher and the family moved as missionaries. After Alaska, he lived in Louisiana, where he met and married his wife before moving to Houston, Texas for an employment position. Those miles and milestones shaped a life defined by perseverance, faith, and the willingness to do what needed to be done for the ones he loved.
Brooks was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Rita Bolton; his son, Jay Bolton; his parents, Jimmie Brady Bolton and Hazel Bolton; and his brothers, Johnny Bolton and Billy Bolton. He is survived by his daughter, Jada Conrad and husband Robert; his son, Jeff Bolton and wife Tillie; his grandchildren, Joey Bolton and wife Carly, J’Lynn Bolton, Shelby Larson, Justin Bolton and wife Abby, Jesse Conrad, and Jacob Conrad; his great-grandchildren, Brooks Bolton, Flossie Larson, Jameson Bolton, Marlyn Bolton, and Elkin Bolton; and his sisters, Joan Bynum and Peggy Atwell. His family was his pride, his joy, and his greatest legacy.
Brooks lived by the principle of “choose wisely, speak softly” which was a reflection of the quiet wisdom he carried throughout his life. If you needed answers, he had them. If you needed guidance, he gave it in his own way—simple, steady, and true. He loved deeply, though often in ways that were uniquely his—head bumps instead of kisses, unwavering loyalty, and always giving those he loved another chance.
He built his life from the ground up, mastering his craft in metalwork, and took pride in working with his hands. He enjoyed reading, welding, and the satisfaction of studying and solving problems. He traveled far and wide, living a life full of experience and purpose. Most of all, he cherished time with his grandchildren—especially the moments spent together shooting guns, fishing and making memories that will be told and retold with smiles for years to come.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on April 11, 2026, at First Baptist Church Chappell Hill, 7675 FM 2447, Chappell Hill, Texas 77426.
Though his passing brings sorrow, the life Brooks lived gives even more reason to celebrate: a life of work, love, wisdom, and steadfast devotion—one that continues in the family he cherished and the memories he leaves behind.
