He won multiple awards at competitions in all three classes for his art, drawings, and wood crafts. He won an award at State Competition for a rocking chair he built in woodwork class. His mother wrote in his baby book: “At 4 years old, Jimmy drew on everything he could get a hold of.” “At 9 years old, Jimmy had his own tools and was making most anything.” He was very talented in art and a skilled craftsman. His mother said his first drawing was of a cowboy he drew on their hardwood floor at home; she then gave him paper to draw on from then on. Jimmy spent many weekends working with his dad gardening and building structures on family property in the country. Jimmy and his dad built a go-cart together when he was a kid and he enjoyed driving it in the neighborhood. After his dad passed away Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his Uncles and cousins going fishing and hunting. He loved the outdoors. Jimmy loved dogs and had many favorite pets in his lifetime. His favorite hobbies were photography, fishing, deer hunting, arrow head collecting, and corresponding with his friends and family by computer. Jimmy was a proud and loving uncle. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially watching his nephew and nieces growing up as children to adults. When his nephew was a baby, he built a large wooden car for him to play in which had a storage area for his toys. After graduation from CHS Jimmy began his first career as a mechanical draftsman working for companies in Conroe and Huntsville. In 1997, Jimmy began his new career working at the Home Depot store in Conroe. He was working there when they had the store’s grand opening. Jimmy had 22 years of employment service with Home Depot, and he remained actively employed with them until the time of his passing. Jimmy enjoyed working with his Home Depot family. He worked in various positions through the years at Home Depot. He also worked at other new store locations preparing for grand openings.
