Funeral services for John George Benson, age 89, of Montgomery will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel. Interment will follow in Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Friday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home.
John was born April 4, 1922 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to Cicero and Jesse Warren Benson and passed away on December 28, 2011 in Conroe, Texas. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII. John was preceded in death by his parents and son, John Vincent Benson. He is survived by his wife Rhonda Benson of Montgomery; daughters, Janada Barker and husband James of Spring and Julia Zintle and husband Joe of Dallas; sons, Weldon Lofton and wife Sandra of Baytown, Leslie Lofton and wife Tammye of Highlands and Sam Wernli and wife Mary of Houston; sister, Bernice Waddell of Mason, Tennessee; brother, Frank Benson and wife Homerline of Memphis, Tennessee. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends also survive.
