

John William Davey, Jr. passed peacefully on January 17, 2023 in The Woodlands, Texas, having lived a long full life just shy of his 81st birthday. He was a lifetime resident of Carl Junction, Missouri. He moved to Texas in 2012 to help care for his youngest granddaughter, but his heart remained in his hometown. He loved visiting home, talking with friends, and sharing stories of the good ol’ days.
He was born on January 25, 1942,to John “Jack” William Davey, Sr. and Hazel Marie Cox Davey in Joplin, Missouri. He married Dee Lynn Fairchild on February 1, 1964. They shared five children, seven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Patsy Davey, sons John Davey and Sean Davey, grandson Sean Lycan, and son-in-law Jorge Keitel.
He is survived by his wife Dee Lynn; sister Karen Davey Williams; children Cara Davey Lycan (John), Mark Davey, and Cami Davey Keitel; grandchildren Amie Lycan Wright (Trey), Thad Lycan (Erin), Tia Davey Gower (Lauren), Luke Lycan, Ky Davey, and Cadee Keitel; great grandchildren Sean Wright, Bria Wright, Oliver Gibson, Cambria Gibson, Khloe Gorgano, Everett Lycan, Grayson Lycan, Kimber Lycan, and Camden Lycan as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends he considered family.
Johnny Bill was a graduate of Carl Junction High School and worked as a machinist for King Press in Joplin. He served as a city councilman and volunteer fireman in Carl Junction. He was passionate about his sports as an athlete, coach, and spectator. He was proud to be inducted into the CJHS Hall of Fame along with his teammates of the undefeated Bulldogs football team of 1958. He enjoyed watching the sports careers of his son and grandsons as well as the numerous young men he coached in their youth. He was a lifetime fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and a proud booster for CJHS and MSSU sports teams.
