Lance Corporal Johnny Lee Conley, USMC, gained his angel wings and joined his beloved son on February 19, 2017, surrounded by his loving family, after a valiant 3 year battle with Cancer. John was born March 6, 1947 in Houston Texas to John and Josephine Conley, the oldest of 3 children. John grew up with a tight group of friends, dubbed the "Northside Gang". After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served our great country in Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, The Vietnam Campaign Medal as well as the Good Conduct Medal. Upon return, he married and settled down on a farm in Montgomery where he raised 3 children. During that time, he was also District Chief of the Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department. John, also known as Daddy, Pepe, Coon and King Kong Conley marched to the beat of his own drum. He made friends everywhere he went. His sense of humor, his giving heart, his knowledge of the most random useless facts and his uncanny knack for making people laugh will be missed. He was the most devoted BEATLES follower you will ever have met. John was preceded in death by his parents John and Josephine Conley; Son John Cody Conley. John is survived by his Daughters - Jennifer Conley, Kara Goodman and special son in law Shawn Goodman and daughter Lauren; the lights of his life, Caydence and Kole; daughter in law Deanna Conley and children Adrienne, Patrick and Paige; brother Jim Conley; Sister Judy Conley Pierce (Marvin); special friend and ex-wife Karol Conley who took care of him every day, without complaint, during the last several weeks of his fight; Northside Gang Jimmy Davis, Glenn Ramsey, Belinda Davis and Beverly Feltis. A special thank you to his own angels, Phyllis and Kay, as well as all of his friends at Camelot Pines. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Metcalf Funeral Directors. Interment will be Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. at Houston National Cemetery. A special thank you to VITAS Hospice care for taking care of our precious sweet Daddy! At Daddy's request, he wants us to celebrate his life. He also requested that everyone wear RED, his favorite color.
