Leson Ann Cruz (better known as Sassie), aged 64, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 2, 2024. Born in Tyler, Texas, she was the daughter of Thomas Franklin Lay and Reba Geraldine Hughs who preceeded her to heaven.
She is survived by her beloved husband Santos (Honey) Cruz; her three daughters, Christy Chi Le, Amy Nhu Le, and Theresarupa Le; her brother Tommy Lay, sister Paula Manning and spouse Jimmy; Niece Lakay T’Anna Manning and nephew Chad Ruple as well as numerous brothers and sisters in Christ.
She loved antiquing, decorating, cooking, and serving others. She has taught at The Light Church in the women’s ministry for years. Sassie loved the Lord and would be happy to tell you about Him.
Sassie worked as a nanny and housekeeper. Her greatest talent was people, she never met a stranger and made everyone feel loved and cared for. Sassie was always available to help someone in need and to give an encouraging word and prayer. She would tell you her greatest accomplishment was her role as a women's bible study teacher with her bestie, Terry Howell. She loved her “Ladies.” Sassie was a woman of God and a beacon of light to many.
There will be a visitation at Cashner’s Funeral Home on Friday August 9th from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. Celebration of Life services will be Saturday August 10th 10:00am; at The Light Church, 13145 Interstate 45 N, Willis, TX 77318. There will be a reception following the service. The graveside services will be at 2:30pm in Garden Park Cemetery at 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303

Habrá un velorio en la funeraria Cashner el viernes 9 de agosto de 5:00 p. m. a 7:00 p. m. Los servicios de Celebración de la Vida serán el sábado 10 de agosto a las 10:00 am; en The Light Church, 13145 Interstate 45 N, Willis, TX 77318. Habrá una recepción después del servicio. Los servicios junto a la tumba serán a las 2:30 p.m. en el cementerio Garden Park en 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303.
