Lola was born in Novice, Texas, on April 11, 1924. She was the last living child of Jess and Lucy Grimes and was the youngest of seven children: Mary Hayes, Yeager Grimes, JH Grimes, Imogene Walker, Johnnie Shields and Ella Bell Grimes.
After graduating from San Angelo High School on May 28, 1942, she attended San Angelo Business College and graduated September 10, 1943.
On August 11, 1945, she married James Dennison Brodnax, who preceded her in death on May 7, 2002. She is survived by her two sons, James Dennison Brodnax Jr. of Houston, Texas and Thomas Lee Brodnax and his wife Lori of Willis, Texas, as well as six grandchildren John Magana and his wife Andrea, Angela Magana, Steve Magana and his wife Courtney, Matthew Brodnax, Adam Brodnax and Amy Brodnax as well as two great granddaughters Katy and Audrey with a great grandson Mason on the way, and her niece Elizabeth Ann Hayes.
Lola lived in many places but always in Texas: Coleman County, San Angelo, Odessa, Kingsville and finally Conroe.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Conroe, Texas. She played Bridge and made desserts often surprising her grandkids with homemade goodies for Christmas. She loved to play Yahtzee and was always surprised when she actually got a Yahtzee. She loved to watch sports and her Dallas Cowboys.
She will be missed. Services will not be held at this time as we will celebrate her life in more normal times.
