Born to Leslie and Sarah (Adams) Oliver in Knott County, Kentucky on April 22, 1934. She lived her early years in mountain coal camps of Eastern Kentucky. In 1955 she left those hills for Music City, USA...Nashville, Tennessee, home of The Grand Ole Opry to start a new chapter. We could never forget, she had enough love left over for lotsa and lotsa nieces and nephews, friends and fellowship family.
Carr Creek High School in Kentucky was where she graduated (always proud of their 1928 High School National Invitational Tournament and 1956 Kentucky State Championship teams)
Waitress was her chosen occupation; she was one of the best. Even being a high school graduate she chose to be a waitress and loved it, she was proud to wear those uniforms.
She enjoyed takin’ care of her family they were number one in her life (after God, of course), Southern cookin’ (my, oh my how she could cook, you never left her house hongry), readin’ romance novels (Grace Livingston Hill were her favorites,)crochetin’ and knittin’, watching soap operas (Edge of Night, Secret Storm and Guidin’ Light) and listenin’ to and singin’ (however off key it might be) ol’ time country music (Johnny and June) (although, she loved Alan Jackson...said he was purty), Grand Ole Opry, bluegrass and o’ course gospel music (her favorites were JD Sumner and the Stamps, the original Oak Ridge Boys Quartet (always blamed that Joe Bonsal for their demise)...and she could be seen tappin’ her toes and lip syncing to Kenny Snow and the Boys on Sunday morning!!)
