Marion Leland Ardis passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 in The Woodlands, Texas after a 7 year long battle with cancer. He was 64 years old at the time of death and was the most amazing husband, father, son, Pop-Pop, and friend.
Marion was born in Sumter, South Carolina on February 3, 1960 and was the son of the late Marion and Ella Nora (Tisdale) Ardis. He started working at a very young age for Piggly Wiggly, working his way into management. He worked in sales most of his adult life and made friends with so many people he worked with and met along the way. He took a break from sales to work as an Army contractor for several years. He loved traveling all over the world and seeing all the Lord's beauty in the different countries. He also loved working with the many good people that he stayed close to for many years.
Marion loved serving others and was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in many different ministry roles, fostering his love for service and transferred this love to his personal life as well. He especially loved working with youth and always saw the great potential in each one of them. He adored kids and looked for opportunities to be the "Pop Pop" to all. He was a lifelong fisherman and spent a lot of time on the water. He also was a Clemson Tiger fan that made his blood run orange. He loved to make people laugh and was a constant joker through the end.
In addition to his late parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, George and Robert Ardis, and his sister, Patricia Evans. His memory will be cherished by a family he loved more than anything - his wife, Suzi (McLeod) Ardis; a daughter, Katie (Ardis) Haugen and son-in-law, Dereck Haugen; a son, Steven Ardis and a daughter-in-law, Elisa (Navarro) Ardis, and many adored grandchildren, Harper, Jaxon, Emma, and Ethan Haugen and Julian, Isabel, and Jacob Laxson. He also is survived by two sisters, Kathaleen (Ardis) Palmer and Edwina Evans, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was always called to the mountains, and a memorial service is tentatively scheduled for the spring in the Blue Ridge Mountains area of South Carolina. More details will follow via social media. In lieu of flowers, you can send donations to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at pancan.org.
