She was a History major and member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
She met (and quickly became engaged to) her beloved husband, Robert Mills McNeel III of Miami, Florida. They married on December 12th, 1964 at The Church of St. John the Divine in Houston. They resided in Miami Shores, Florida for nine years where they had two children, Raymond Mills McNeel and Christine Lee McNeel Goff. There, she was an active member of the Junior League of Miami.
In 1972, the family moved to Conroe, Texas, where she and her husband became members of their cherished First Presbyterian Church. She served in a multitude of capacities including Sunday School teacher, Mother’s Day Out (Presbyterian Day School) teacher, Vacation Bible School Director, Search Committee Member, Bible Study Leader, Circle Leader and Elder for three years. She was awarded an Honorary Life Membership by Presbyterian Women in 2003. Marion was also an active member of the Conroe Service League for years and volunteered many hours at their Bargain Box Resale Shop.
Marion is survived by her husband and children, as well as her son-in-law, Dr. Gary Goff who resides with his wife in Dallas and her two beloved grandchildren, Lauren and Marie Claire Goff who reside in North Carolina.
The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff of HCA Hospital in Conroe and her many physicians and nurses for their years of care. They also want to thank the nurses and therapists of Allheal Home Health for all their warmth and kindness above and beyond their professional responsibilities. The family finally extends their eternal gratitude to the “Steel Magnolias” Barb Barton, Marty and Warren Taylor, and Shirley Dukes for staying by her side and by her husband’s side for her last hours. She passed knowing she was deeply loved and well cared for by family and friends.
