Margie’s family moved from Gould, Arkansas in 1944 when she was 14 years old. She graduated from Jeff Davis High School in 1948 and attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, OK and the University of Houston. She married James on May 27, 1950 and lived in Houston until they moved to Conroe in 1959.
Her proudest accomplishments and greatest joy were her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Mims Baptist Church for 60 years and taught the Lydia ladies Sunday School class for several years as well as children’s classes. She was past president of the Ladies’ Pilot Club and won the city contest for naming Loop 336 as the Veterans Memorial Highway. She worked several jobs throughout the years including Manager at the Hotel Conroe and accountant for First National Bank and Scott’s Pharmacy. She retired from the Montgomery County Clerk’s office in 1992, after 10 years of service and then pursued her love of antiques. She enjoyed cooking especially for her family on Sundays after church, and had a great love for reading and writing poetry, and enjoyed traveling with James in later years.
