Mary Kathryn Prove

Mary Kathryn Prove, 82, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025, in Conroe, Texas. Mary was born in Luling, Texas September 9, 1942, to John Tom Pope and Lois Laverne Pope. She is preceded in death by her husband Herbert Wayne Prove and her brother Tommy Pope. Mary is survived by her son Kenneth Prove and his wife Audrey, and grandchildren; Kyra, Stella and Dallas Prove.

During her younger years, Mary moved around a lot due to her father working on the oil rigs. Mary and her family eventually settled down in Houston due to her father’s sudden passing. She graduated from San Jacinto Senior High School in Houston, Texas in 1962. She shortly met her future husband, Wayne, and they Married February 14th, 1964, in Houston, Texas. Mary and her family moved to Montgomery, Texas in 1987 where they remained raising their family.

Mary had a love for animals, especially her cats, and her jewelry, as well as her family. While raising her family in Montgomery, Mary worked at one of the few restaurants in the area, Aunt Annies. Mary eventually retired and continued a long marriage with Wayne until his health took him from her. They were married for 49 years.

A visitation for Mary will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Metcalf Funeral Directors, 1801 East White Oak Terrace, Conroe, Texas. The funeral service will be Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home followed by a graveside service at 3:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale St, Houston, Texas.
