Mattie Lou Lambert, 97, of Conroe, Texas, passed away on April 22, 2017. Born in Shongaloo, in Webster Parish, Louisiana on July 5, 1919; she was the 6th of 14 children born to John and Mallie Middlebrook. Mattie married the love of her life, Leo Albert Lambert, on January 20, 1940 in Texarkana, Arkansas. They celebrated their life with 53 years of marriage. Mattie lived her life for her family. She followed Albert wherever his construction job took him throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and even Bangkok, Thailand. After retirement, they travelled throughout the Continental United States, with multiple trips to Alaska, in their Winnebago motor home with their faithful dog Bubbles. Mattie was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Albert Lambert, both parents and 4 brothers and 7 sisters. She is survived by two sisters, Nadine Fretwell and Charlene Rose, both of Carthage, Texas; three daughters and their spouses, Janice and Nolan Braud, of Spring, Texas, Sandra and Travis Welch of Cut & Shoot, Texas and Marilyn and Richard Kinney, of Cut & Shoot, Texas, and a special “4th” daughter and neighbor Rhonda and David Tate; nine grandchildren and spouses, Paula and Tim London, of Spring, Texas; Angela & Roger Ordonez of Tomball, Texas; Karla and Mike Beehler of Houston, Texas; Donna & Ron Spinks of Anderson, Texas; Debra & Ron Lee of Cut & Shoot, Texas; Deidra & Kenneth Moon of Madisonville, Texas; Wayne and Kimberly Welch of Cut & Shoot, Texas; Candy Hilton of Cut & Shoot, Texas; and Sandy & David Allen of Jacksonville, Florida; 14 great grandchildren and 11 great- great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Metcalf Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at Conroe Memorial Park Cemetery. Along with her special caregivers Susan Kinney and Justina Conner, the family would like to thank Doctor Glenn Berwick for his care of Mattie throughout the years. Special thanks also to Marjorie Wiltshire, Tonya Credit, Calvin Perro, John Epperson, Gertha Williams and Misty Cantwel with VeraCare Hospice for their diligent and dedicated care of Mother this past week. It may have been short but was supportive and a great comfort in a difficult time.
