Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on January 28, 1980, Megan was the beloved daughter of Darryl and Karen Hess. She was raised in Baton Rouge and graduated from Baton Rouge Magnet High School before earning her Associate’s degree in Business from Baton Rouge Community College.
Megan eventually moved to the Houston area, where she continued her education at the University of Houston–Clear Lake, receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Performance. Despite losing her sight at a young age, Megan met life with strength, independence, and a deep sense of compassion. She brought a strong work ethic and a warm, engaging spirit to every role she held. Megan worked for Marriott Worldwide Reservations in Omaha, Nebraska, assisting travelers with their plans, and later served as a dispatcher for Yellow Cab in Houston until the company’s closure.
Megan found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid game show fan, enjoyed attending church, and especially cherished time spent with her family—gathering around the dinner table was a favorite tradition. Over the years, she was lovingly accompanied by two seeing eye dogs, Allard and Finn, both of whom she adored and enjoyed taking on walks.
Megan’s kindness, resilience, and unwavering devotion to those she loved will be remembered always.
She is survived by her parents, Darryl and Karen Hess; her sisters, Taryn Nentwich and husband Russell, and Kami Guertin and husband Daren; her nieces and nephews, Morgan Baughman, Emma Nentwich, Lorelai Guertin, and Tyler Guertin; aunts Barbara Hess and Karen Hess; uncle Bill Miller and wife Betty Jo; as well as numerous cousins and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Conroe on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
