Meilani Esthela Guerra, 6, of Conroe, Texas gained her angel wings on Friday, September 9, 2022, at Texas Children’s Hospital, after a lifelong battle with HLHS. Meilani is survived by her loving parents Jose and Blanca Guerra and brother Mateo. Meilani was born a fighter; she was the strongest and bravest little girl we knew, yet she was like the soft warm rays of sunshine, rainbows, and the scent of rain on a warm summer day. She could walk into a room and instantly brighten it. She was too pure for this world, too young to be taken from us, and too precious to those who knew and loved her, and we were blessed to have her in our lives.
Meilani loved to watch YouTube videos about different types of dishes to learn how they were prepared and to watch how others enjoyed eating these foods. This innocent curiosity led her to help mommy and grandma in the kitchen to bring some of those tasty dishes to life. She loved to explore different types of foods, but her favorites were noodles, rice, and sushi. Meilani also loved to help daddy and big brother with different projects around the house. Her love for Disney princesses was ever-changing, and most recently her favorite was Jasmine, although Belle came in a close second. She enjoyed baseball in all its forms as her favorite team to cheer for, was whichever little league baseball team her “Bubba” played on. The Houston Astros sufficed when little league was over. Meilani’s favorite colors were what she called “Dark” blue and “Dark” Green. To everyone else, they were Royal blue and Forest green.
Even at her young age, Meilani knew the importance of prayer and of letting God take the reins. Whenever she had her blood drawn, she would repeat the words “Jesus I trust in You”-no doubt her unwavering faith was what allowed her to endure the most difficult trials. Meilani taught us to seize the day, to appreciate the little gifts, and to stay positive despite the difficult moments; but most importantly she proved that it's not the size of the heart that matters, but what you choose to fill it with that counts.
Meilani, we will greatly miss your creative spirit and your contagious smile, your quiet voice, and your beautiful songs–we love you very much, Meilani, and your memory will forever be etched in our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Blanca Guerra. Meilani leaves many loving family members to mourn her absence including her mother and father, Jose and Blanca, brother Mateo, paternal grandfather Jose E. Guerra, Sr., maternal grandparents Pedro and Blanca Soto, uncle Pedro Soto, aunt and uncle and God parents, Denise and Hector Lopez, and cousins Hector, III and David.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Cashner Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 with a Vigil service to begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, September 16th at 1:30 p.m. with burial to follow in Garden Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jose Guerra, Pedro Soto, Hector Lopez, II, and Hugo Guerra. For Friday's services we encourage everyone to wear blue, white, or any combination of the two if possible.
