Monroe Larue Tyler, age 97, of Conroe, Texas, met his Lord and Savior August 28, 2025. He was born December 16, 1927 in Midway, Texas to John Ruby Tyler and Virginia Inez Mason Tyler. He was the oldest of five siblings. Predeceasing him in death are his parents, and siblings Tommie Tyler, and John Tyler.
Monroe grew up in many different places around Midway, Madisonville, and Conroe. In April, 1946, at the age of 18, he joined the Navy and was discharged in July, 1946 from WWII due to enlistment reduction. He then entered the Korean War from 1950-1954 where he served on the USS Ft. Marion, the USS Menifee, and the USS Park County (LST 1077).
In 1954, Monroe began his 39-year career at Jefferson Chemical Company, now Huntsman Petrochemical Plant. He was a plant supervisor and loved visiting all the units in his golf cart and having coffee with his lifelong friends.
Monroe married the love of his life, Doris Mainord Tyler, on May 14,1955. They were married 69 years until her passing on January 7, 2025. He loved playing with the kids and grand-kids. He was a total outdoors person. If he could be outside planting a garden, mowing, cutting down trees, picking up brush or limbs, it was a great day!
He loved to feed the squirrels and birds that would come to the back door everyday.
Monroe could build or fix anything, not being one to hire things out. He loved to travel with Doris and loved to talk about their trips to England, Egypt, Greece, Caribbean, and the numerous cruises they embarked on. He always looked forward to Sundays as it was church day and family day. He loved playing games with the family but didn't like losing to Mom.
Monroe was a member of Mims Baptist Church for 54+ years. He was active with his kids as they helped with the Bus Ministry, Puppet Ministry, and numerous other activities at church. He drove the bus to numerous summer camp adventures. He was active in the Men's Class.
