Nancy Catherine Garcia

Nancy Catherine Cocca Garcia, 86, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17, 2015 surrounded by her children and family members. She was born on November 29, 1928 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Diodoro and Emilia Cocca. Nancy married in 1952, but raised her five children alone after she separated in 1967. She was an accomplished seamstress who returned to school to earn her nursing degree. As a nurse, Nancy demonstrated her compassion while working at Johns Hopkins Hospital and other facilities. Throughout her life, Nancy enjoyed roller-skating, dancing, horror movies, dining out, shopping, playing the penny slots, and reading crime stories. She was a wonderful mother and best friend to her children. She liked spending time with her ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Maria Deborah Szeto. Nancy is survived by her son John Mario Garcia; daughters Christina Bruce and husband Milton, Margo Miller and husband Dennis, and Rona Flagle and husband Douglas; grandchildren Lavinia Szeto and husband Sitesh Shah, Jason Szeto, Salvatore Bianca and wife Cassandra, Marcus Bianca and wife Amanda, Stephen Miller and wife Meng, Drew Miller, John Mario Garcia, Jr., and Peter, Alex, and William Flagle; great-grandchildren Korralynn and Kalysee Shah, Madeleine Miller, Dominic Bianca, Alexis Trone, Brayden Bianca, Cole Bianca, Octavian and Victoria Bianca and soon to be born Isabella Bianca; brothers Robert Cocca and Vincent Cocca and a host of family and friends. A celebration of life will be held Monday, July 20, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Metcalf Funeral Home.
