Mr Denn, 
You have always  been my favorite memory of Montgomery High School. You were awesome and the best teacher I have ever had throughout my entire education. I even got a degree in History largely because you made it interesting. I never used it because I was confident I could not tolerate today’s youth. I remember talking with you in my early 50’s and discussing the term “
A  Republic or a Democracy “I wish you rest, and a peaceful journey my friend. I look forward to an eternity of discussions with you. May God greet you with open arms and bring peace to the loving hearts of your family.

Mr. Denn, you sir were a good man and touched many lives.  Even touched mine with a mean swing on that paddle, but hey I deserved it, needed it and it got my mind right, for a while anyway. Thank you for being such an INCREDIBLE Teacher and Leader to me in my days at MHS and for making a subject so fun and interesting when I was worried it would be so boring but you made History fun! You have always been talked about in my home as you not only left a lasting impression on me, I found out you had to put up with my Husband in class! I remember running into you a few years back with my Husband and it was priceless finding out that I married one of your pain in the booty students when I was such an  angel in class! It was so entertaining the hard time  we gave him about it! My heart will be forever grateful to have been blessed to  know you!

Mr denn was a great teacher and good man I had him for world history and he drove bus 11 for many years which was the bus I took to school

Thoughts and prayers to the family. He was a great teacher and great man. One of the highlights of high school was his history class.

Most people knew him as an amazing educator, but to me, he was one of my favorite customers. When I was in college working as a cashier at Walmart, he always made my Sundays brighter. For over a year, he would come through my line just so we could catch up—it became our little tradition, and something we both looked forward to. Even years later, whenever we’d run into each other, we’d pick right back up where we left off. He truly had a way of making people feel seen and valued, and he will be so dearly missed. 🤍

My favorite memories of Uncle Dickey was our family gatherings during Christmas.  Dickey, mom, Brenda and our mamaw would gather around the organ and sing Christmas hymns.  ( “Oh Holy Night” being a favorite).  After that we would have a dinner that featured Uncle Dickey’s famous fudge.

Dickey was a great conversationalist and he could discuss politics, current events, history and of course religion.

I look forward to seeing him again 
one day.
