Born in Houston to Minor and Florence Marling August 29, 1932 where he spent his childhood and the first part of his adult life. He was employed by the Railroad, Waukesha Pearce and Garrett Aviation in Houston.
In 1972 he moved from Houston to Conroe Texas where he built a home and a life on Lake Conroe. This is where he began his passion of all things water related. He loved the lake life, boating and fishing until he acquired a sailboat. This gave way to a new passion, sailing and the beach life. He and his wife Patsy loved to sail and more so loved all the people they met along the way. They spent some summers living on the sailboat and establishing friendships. Old friends and new friends he loved them all. He continued to sail every chance he got even at 93.
Bob enjoyed is family, he enjoyed being Paw-Paw and Grandpa Bobby and would teach the grandkids about boating and building things. He always had a lesson to teach or a story to tell and there were A LOT of stories!
His spark for life dimmed a bit when he lost his wife of 50+ years in 2020. We all know that even though he will be greatly missed here on this earth, he is right where he wanted to be for the past several years, reunited with Patsy “Honey”. We are all confident that they are dancing together again and catching up on the things they missed together.
They say that the dash between birth and death dates represents a person’s life, how well they lived and loved. We can all be sure he lived his dash well; he loved and laughed and never hesitated to help others if he could.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Minor and Florence Marling; sister, Bettye Marling; daughter, Kathy Davis and granddaughter, Brittney Dio.
