Our beloved father, Ronald Gene Lamont, Sr. passed away peacefully on November 15, 2022 in Huntsville, Texas. His family was at his side as the Lord welcomed him home. Ronald G. Lamont, Sr., or as his friends would call him, Gene, was 78 years old. Gene was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Florence Jo Lamont, his father, Dewey Lamont, Sr., his loving mother, Laura Catherine Lamont, his brothers, Bennie and Dewey, Jr. and his sisters, Alma and Inez.
Gene was born in Houston, Texas on July 14, 1944 and spent his childhood growing up in Houston surrounded by his loving family and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. On August 26, 1962, Gene married the love of his life, Florence Jo Haynie and began their married journey that would last 59 years. Their journey would lovingly welcome two sons and two daughters, Kimberly, Ronald, Jr, Adrienne and Christopher. As a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Gene shared his love of life and laughter with all. Be it through his numerous volunteer activities or sharing his love of the lake and boating, many beyond his family benefitted from his dedication to family and community. Prior to retiring, Gene enjoyed a long, successful career in the Oil & Gas industry. After he and his family moved to Willis, Texas, Gene pursued his love of education by serving on the Willis Independent School District Board of Trustees for over ten (10) years. Many of those years were spent serving as President of the School Board. Gene would continue to support our community by promoting the growth and prosperity of Willis, TX on the Willis Economic Development Council as well as participating in many volunteer events. Along with his wife Flo, he particularly enjoyed time spent working with the Willis Christmas Parade.
Gene is survived by his daughters Kimberly Lamont and Adrienne Gurrola and husband David; Sons Ronald Gene Lamont, Jr and wife Stacey, and Christopher Lamont; Six Grandchildren Jeremy Lamont and partner Tammi Card, Anna "Katy” Gurrola, Luke Anthony Gurrola, Drew Lamont and wife Lindsay, Sara Bean and husband John, and Matthew Lamont; Three Great-grandchildren Celeste Lamont, Tinsley Bean and Greyson Bean along with his honorary son, Kenneth Willis and honorary daughter, Marisa Philipello Zamarripa and a host of godchildren, cousins and numerous friends.
Visitation with family and friends will be Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 9:00am – 10:00am at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas. Funeral services will begin at 10:00am at Cashner Funeral Home followed by mausoleum entombment at Garden Park Cemetery (adjacent to Cashner Funeral Home).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Gene’s favorite charity St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
