

Shirley Beatrice Whalen, 86, of Conroe, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2025. Born on October 8, 1938, in London, Kentucky, to Paul and Beatrice Brown, Shirley lived a life of faith, love, and dedication to her family. She exemplified strength and unwavering commitment to her loved ones and to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Shirley met the love of her life, Jack Whalen, in Richmond, Indiana, and they were united in marriage on June 29, 1956. Together, they built a remarkable 68-year partnership rooted in devotion and love and raised three beautiful girls. Shirley was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and a heart of gold that will last for eternity. Known affectionately as “Shirley Girl,” she was the heart and soul of her family, filling every room with love, wisdom, and laughter. Though she is no longer by our side, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Shirley had a distinguished real estate career, spanning over four decades with RE/MAX East and Fannie Mae. A dedicated professional and trusted mentor, she built a remarkable career founded on integrity, commitment, and expertise. Her leadership and guidance left a lasting impact on her clients, colleagues, and friends. Outside of her professional life, Shirley enjoyed traveling to visit her family in Indiana, antiquing, doing BPOs, and, most of all, spending time with her family.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Jack Whalen; daughters, Leah and husband Jack Crook, Tina and husband Avery Fregia; son-in-law, Edwin Moses; granddaughter, Erika and husband Kory Koehler; great-grandsons, Keaton and Kason Koehler; and great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Fregia. Shirley also held a special place in her heart for her extended family in Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Moses; parents, Paul and Beatrice Brown; sister, Mary Swope; brother-in-law, Randy Swope; nephew’s Thomas Buller, Barry Whalen and grandson, Christian Fregia.
A woman of grace and strength, Shirley will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will forever cherish the love and light she brought into their lives.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Rd., Conroe, TX 77303. Funeral services will be on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM in Cashner Colonial Chapel, with burial to follow at Garden Park Cemetery.
