Stanley served Montgomery County, Texas starting in 1974 by building a career in Emergency Medical Service as Emergency Paramedic Supervisor/Administrator, Firefighter/Administrator and worked in Funeral Service. He started with City County before becoming employed with Montgomery County Hospital District from 1977 to 2010. While with MCHD, he was in communications and administration for fire and EMS as well as paramedicine. He helped mothers give birth to 23 babies and received many awards and honors. From 1982 to 1990, he worked in Funeral Service with his uncle Curtis Mims who was a Funeral Director/Embalmer. During that time, his uncle taught him that families need help and guidance through the grief process. Stanley continued to help others as the Making Everlasting Memorial Coordinator with Cashner Funeral from 2011 to 2023. He considered it an honor and privilege to serve the families of Montgomery County in their time of need throughout the various stages of life. Stanley is remembered by many as a trusted mentor who was dedicated to helping others to succeed in their jobs and life.
Stanley was proud to help start several programs such as Shattered Lives, American Heart Advance Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advance Life Support. He also served as CEO of the Cut and Shoot Fire Department Incorporation for over 6 years.
Stanley is preceded in death by parents Ira Glynn Mims and Virginia Mims, stepmother Barbara Mims, sister Jeanne Mims, former wife Charlotte Mahaffey Mims, and daughter Laura Nicole Mims.
Stanley is survived by wife Sharon Mims, daughter April Mims Hunter and husband Chad, son Nathaniel Mims, son Silas Mims and wife Paulina, son Dennis Allen and wife Tiffany, daughter Michele Burch and husband Aaron, son Jerold Loveless and wife Shelby, sister Janet Averitt and husband Denny, two sisters in law and three brothers in law, grandchildren: Laurel and Kaleigh Hunter, Emma and Connor Allen, and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins, and other relatives. A host of friends also survive.
A visitation for Stanley will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303. A funeral service will occur Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Mims Baptist Church, 1609 Porter Rd, Conroe, TX 77301. A graveside will occur Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Conroe Memorial Park, 1600 Porter Rd, Conroe, TX 77301. Pallbearers for the service will be: Nathaniel Mims, Silas Mims, Jerold Loveless, Dennis Allen, Chad Hunter, and Joshua Averitt; honorary pallbearers will be: Jonathin Averitt and Benjamin Averitt.
