Tom York, 73, of Conroe passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018. He was born December 31, 1944 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Thomas and Doris York. Tom served his country in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sargent during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for 40 years. He was a part of many country and bluegrass bands around the area including, Happy Strings Ukulele Band, 3 Beards and A Bass, and the Panorama Pep Band to name a few. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Melba, son, Scott York, daughter, Amy Nickerson, grandchildren, Nathan Riley, Randa Nickerson, Mason Nickerson, Justin Riley, and Madison York, sister, Debbie Petter and husband, Arnie, mother-in-law, Virgie Scott, and life-long friend, Howard Starling. Visitation will be held Friday, April 20, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe. Funeral services will be at New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Graveside services will be held at Brookside Memorial Park Cemetery in Houston on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.
