“Dear Children, apostles of my love, it is up to you to spread the love of my Son to all those, who have not come to know it; you, the little lights of the world, whom I am teaching with motherly love to shine clearly with full brilliance.  Prayer will help you, because prayer saves you, prayer saves the world.  Therefore, my children, pray with words, feelings, merciful love and sacrifice.  My Son has shown you the way – He who became incarnate and made of me the first chalice, with His exalted sacrifice He has shown you how you need to love.  Therefore, my children, do not be afraid to speak the truth. Do not be afraid to change yourself and the world by spreading love, by doing everything for my Son to be known and loved by loving others in Him.  As a mother I am always with you.  I am imploring of my Son to help you for love to reign in your life – love that lives, love that draws, love which gives life.  I am teaching you such love – pure love.  It is up to you, my apostles, to recognize it, live it and spread it.  Pray with feeling for your shepherds so that they can witness my Son with love.  Thank you.”


The time has come when I must let go of a loved one and trust God with something precious to my heart.  Although my Mom may no longer be with me in this present life, she will always remain a part of me.  She molded my spirit with her gentle strength and grace.  She loved deeply and unconditionally.  Mom put her faith in to action by her way of living.  Family was always her focus and priority.  My favorite tradition growing up was dinner shared as a family.  No matter where you were or what you were doing, you don't dare be late as you would be the chief dishwasher.  Even on the beach in Galveston, when we gathered together for hamburgers cooked in a sand pit, she would invite strangers to join us.  This family tradition still remains for my husband and I as we continue to share dinners together every evening at the table.  My parents were blessed to have shared over 65 years together.  They were a beautiful couple and shared with their children what true love is.  Mom had a smile that captured my father's heart.  She always shared her smile warming hearts and healing souls.  During her last few days in the hospital, she greeted everyone with a smile and "Hello".  She showed me the meaning of loving deeply and unconditionally, being grateful and living with grace.  When I was a young adult, she gave me a card which I carry with me always.  "What you are is God's gift to you; what you become is your gift to God".  She used her gifts from God  and made a difference for me.  Thank you for your guidance and unwavering faith.  Each and every day was made special by your love.

A letter to Memaw.

Memaw,

I promise not to whisper.

It never occurred to me that one day I might be up here talking about you. Maybe I was naïve in thinking you were invincible but with your strength in life and the impact you had on everyone you knew, I really never thought of such a day. 

Memaw you were one of a kind. You were my grandmother, mother, mentor and friend. A great grandmother to Sean (which he is just now realizing you were his great grandmother, he has always thought you were his grandmother). You put your whole heart into each one of these roles and I can't thank you enough. 

Your faith in God and the church is unwavering. I will be honest when I was younger I didn't get it even though I have always believed in God and heaven above I guess it wasn't my focus but after living with you this last time it was like something clicked. I now understand this unwavering faith in God and the church. I'm so grateful you & Pepaw never gave up on me and continued to lead me down this path.   

Memaw you inspired me, just as I know you inspired each of your grandchildren, I became a nurse because of that inspiration and support. Nursing school was not easy as you very well know but you helped me through many times. Helping me write papers and do research or being the subject of my research (elderly project). That was a funny one. Us looking up the definition of elderly, elderly being anyone past middle age and laughing that with that definition my dad could have been the subject of that project. While it is one of the most challenging things I have ever done in life the pride on your face at my graduation was truly worth all the tears and sleepless nights it took to get there.

The memories, oh the memories there are so many. 

I remember family dinners with you every night in the Friendswood house. You, Pepaw, Uncle Bryan, my dad, my brother and me. You worked hard every day and then would come home and make sure your family had a home cooked meal every night. 

I remember when my cousin Brock was born and thinking I had my own real life baby doll and how cool was that until he peed on me. At that point it was Memaw you can have your real baby doll back. I'll stick to mine they won't do that.

I remember summer vacations in the RV. Spending one summer in Canada at Jelly Stone Park with the pool with water that was like 50 degrees in the middle of July that was a big shock to a little girl from Texas. We also visited Niagara Falls which was amazing, Corning, New York not so amazing and Hershey, Pennsylvania a child's dream all on the drive home. 

I remember our first trip really well this is when I realized Memaw you were always right. It was the trip with You, Pepaw, my dad, my brother and me. I remember us traveling through the mountains in the first RV yall had. There was something about saving a day's worth of driving if we cut through the mountains rather than going around. Well of course the men decided to take the short cut. Halfway up that mountain the RV started to overheat at this point you are telling Pepaw and my dad to turn the thing around and go back down the mountain. They continue to be stubborn in true Wisnoski form (as Wisnoski's I think we all have this trait embedded within us) and insist we are almost to the top of this mountain and once we reach the top we be fine coasting downhill from there. Well the RV finally gave out on the side of that mountain where we ended up spending the night all while with every 18 wheeler that past us it would shake the entire RV. Did I mention we were on the side of the mountain with the cliff and not the inner side of the mountain? Remember what happened the next morning? We turned around and drove right back down that mountain and ended up driving the extra day or so it took us to go around the mountain. Just like you said to do all along. Here is when I knew to never doubt Memaw as she was a very wise woman.

I remember a time before Sean was born and I was staying with you and Pepaw in Conroe. It was my 23rd birthday. I had gone out with some of my girlfriends and probably had a little too much to drink. My girlfriends had brought me home safely and I had gone to bed. The next morning I woke up with a headache, a belly button ring and a tattoo on my ankle. I remember you giving me Advil and water for my head, taking out the belly button ring per my request and laughing and telling me bet you don't do that again and teasing me saying I have no idea how you're going to get rid of that (referring to the tattoo on my ankle). Memaw you were right. The tattoo is still there on my ankle and not because I want it to be there but because it is too expensive to have it removed.

Another cherished moment: You and Pepaw always saving the little cousins from one of the torturous gifts my aunts and uncles put in the white elephant game for a good laugh. I promise to help pick where you left off to make sure the little ones are always happy.

Memaw, I love you with every piece of me and the time has come for you to rest. So go in peace, you've earned your sleep. Your love in our hearts will remain there eternally.

I would like to read a poem I came across. I think it is fitting of the relationships Memaw had with each of her grandchildren.  I wish I could take credit for it but writing is not my strong suit. The author is unknown.

Memaw,

With the gift of years
Comes the treasure of knowing
That there are many who love you dearly.

The memories you've made with us
Will last forever.
The tenderness you've shared with us
Will never fade.

The most wonderful gift you could ever give
Is the special part of you 
That now lives in each of us.

And the truth your love has taught us
Can only be strengthened
By the gift of time

For where roots grow deep,
Memories grow
Forever.

I had the great pleasure to spend time with Mrs. Wisnoski and her family.  Many stories were told and many laughs. Lovely woman. Thoughts and prayers to all of you.

So sorry for your loss.  John, Bryan, Jessica and Girls,  We will always treasure our memories of Vida (MeMaw) at the neighborhood get togethers.  Her beautiful smile, warm laughter and kindness would light up the room.  She will be missed greatly!  Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family today. We love you all!  The McGuyers

We are all going to miss Vida. She and her whole family are like our extended family since the Reed Road days. She will always be remembered for her active life, and her smile.

I am so sorry for your loss, Vida was a beautiful soul inside and out. I had the privelage of traveling to Bosnia, Croatia and France on a Pilgrimage with her and John.
