William Paul Newsom, Jr., 75 of Willis, passed away into the arms of his Savior on Thursday, June 26, 2025. He was born on November 19, 1949, in Houston, TX to William Paul, Sr. and Laura Elizabeth Newsom.
Paul spent his loving childhood in Marquez, TX with his parents, brothers and sisters who called him “Junior”. His dad was a farmer, and his mother took care of the children. Paul was a fantastic storyteller and often told childhood stories of being raised in Marquez, swimming in the river, hunting and fishing with his brothers.
Paul married the love of his life, Debbie, at 17 years old and was happily married for 57 years. They raised four children and had 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Paul was a highly respected and sought after home builder in Montgomery County for over 35 years, giving families beautiful, custom homes with honesty and integrity. He could plant the most beautiful garden, often sharing his crop with others. Paul was a loving Christian and lived his life honoring God and loving his family. He was active in his church communities, volunteering to drive the church bus to gather visitors for Sunday service was just one example.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie, children Stacie Hunter and husband Jeff, Karen Turner and husband Lance Sr., and Sean Newsom, grandchildren Zachary Caleb Hunter and wife Kelly, Joshua Paul Hunter and wife Lacey, Lance Stephen Turner Jr. and wife Julie, Michael Jeffrey Turner and wife Lexi, Samuel Lee Turner, Jeffrey Laine Hunter, Jr. and fiancé Alyssa, Amey Elizabeth Hunter, Nathanael William Turner, Shane Luke Hunter and wife Allison, Elissa Beth Turner, Madison Lea Ann Newsom, Vanessa Rose Hunter and Sydney Jo Turner, great grandchildren Connor, Abigail, Beau, Raelynn, Hudson and Luke Hunter, sisters Joy Lewis and Paulette Quinn and brother Larry Newsom and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his son Larry Joe Newsom, grandson Logan Paul Newsom, parents Paul and Elizabeth Newsom, sister Marie Wingo and brothers Jerry “JR” Newsom, William “Buddy” Newsom, Forest “Peewee” Newsom and Dale Green.
A memorial service for Paul will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Cashner Funeral Home. Paul will be laid to rest in Garden Park Cemetery and a reception is to be held after graveside services at Cashner Funeral Home’s Oak Hall.
