

Mrs. Amelia Pico née Reyes, known lovingly by her children as “Mami” and by her grandchildren as “Mamacita,” died peacefully at Broward Health on January 6, 2023, in Coral Springs, Florida at the age of 83.
Amelia is survived by her husband, Vicente; daughters and sons in law, Evelyn and Lawrence DeMaio, Janice and Kenny Brady, Sylvia and Frank Martines, and Nancy and Angelo Ferrigno; and 11 grandchildren: Victoria, Matthew, Christopher, Amelia, Jessica, Frank, Daniela, Angelo Jr., Elizabeth, Vicente, and Evelyn, of Coral Springs, Florida.
Amelia was born on May 23,1939 in Coamo, Puerto Rico to Felicita and Pablo Reyes. She graduated from Central School for Practical Nurses in 1964 with a degree in Nursing. She worked at various healthcare facilities as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Amelia married Vicente, the love of her life, in 1963. They were together for over half a century. In 1965 they welcomed their first daughter, Evelyn, followed by triplets, Janice, Sylvia, and Nancy, five years later. Her daughters remember her as a wonderful, strong, kind, loving, and patient mother. Amelia was and will always be the light of her daughters’ lives. A mother who always encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Amelia was accomplished at cooking, and often wrote poems in her journals. She was generous, witty, and dedicated to her family. She loved to garden and crochet. She was also an active member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
The viewing will be held on January 16, 2023, at Kraeer Funeral Home in Coral Springs, Florida, from 4:00 PM, to 8:00 PM, and the Mass is scheduled for 12 Noon on January 17, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Father Edward M. Kelly will officiate the ceremony. The committal service is on January 17, 2023, at 1:45 PM, with a reception to follow at Tavolino Della Notte, 10181 West Sample Road, Coral Springs, Florida 33065.
