Barney was a dear friend of mine. I met him when I pledged the Zeta Sigma Pi fraternity at St. John's University, where we both were students. We had an instant camaraderie. I'll never forget the day we spent skiing together at Mt. Snow, Vermont. He had come up to the Norway Lodge, where I was performing as a singer-guitarist. Such perfect conditions that day....such a perfect memory!

Around 2006-2009 I met Andrew horvath at a tennis camp in Coral Springs held by a man named Shawn Craig. I met Andrew and his sister Katie there and we became friends. I would go to sleep overs and one fond memory I have is Barney being such a generous and thoughtful person. He made sure I was taken care of and extended his home as if I was one of his own, I was 11 at the time. May he rest in peace

Barney and I were brothers in Zeta Sigma Pi Fraternity at St. John's University where we both earned our under-grad degrees. We met when I pledged in 1965 and we became instant friends. Barney was a very special person, and he was beloved by the entire fraternity. He always carried an air of wisdom and dependability about him. 
     In the winter of 1969 Barney appeared at a ski lodge in Mt. Snow, Vermont, where I was performing as a singer. The following day we went skiing for the entire day in conditions that can only be described as glorious. Neither one of us ever forgot that special day. 
     Barney relocated to Florida a few years later. We kept in touch. I will never forget him. I'll never stop missing him. 
     Rest in peace my dear dear friend! 

One year since the world is missing you. Finest, man, kindest soul, best doctor, and friend. Prayers sent all the time for you, Mommie, and Papci.

Sorry for late response. We just found out and we send out our thoughts and prayers to all the family. 
Our family and extended family have seen Barney over the last 30 years or more. He ALWAYS fixed everyone and was the best orthopedic doctor around.
  When someone needed something fixed or 2nd opinion we sent them to Barney.
 Hope you don't mind this story, just off the top of my head, my dad used to service his pool and he said he remembered chasing after the silly dogs when they would get out. It was just one of the laughs we would have.  Barney was very kind to all of us!

I became a patient in 2011, along with a list of Publix associates who needed Dr. Horvath at certain times, I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing, he was a kind, passionate, gentle giant, the best gentle hands in the world !! Bedside manner was excellent!!! He performed three surgeries on me and they all  turned out perfect!!  I will miss him dearly!! I became a patient of Dr Horvath at 42 with hip pain.i was a baseball player all my life and played the worst position for your body a Catcher. He recommended a hip replacement, I immediately found him trustworthy  and had the surgery.the other hip and one knee followed  thanks to him I can play with  my grandkids and walk without pain.i will remember him always.

Barney and I were friends while he was an intern at St Mary’s Hospital in Montreal and I was a medical student. A good athlete and a good friend. We lost touch. I am Sorry to hear he is gone but it looks like he lived a good and full life.

I am so sorry to hear that Dr. Horvath passed away. I'm 75 now and in my late twenties Dr. Horvath treated me after a serious accident and I have thought about him often. I couldn't have had a better man help me. He was so kind and caring and thank God for him I still have my leg! My sincerest sympathies to all who loved him.

Dr Horavte was a gentle  man, I knew him from University Hospital, where I was a nurse for 35 years. He was a wonderful Doctor to work with and a pleasure to know.   Mary Kay Owens

Barney and I went to medical school together and then were interns together in Montreal. I was newly wed and ˆI brought my pregnant Swedish wife from the paradise of Southern France to Montreal.  My parents had rented us and paid for  a small dark and isolated apartment that would have left my wife isolated and miserable.  Barney was in on the discussion and said, "Joel, you and I will be working anyway. I'll take the apartment and you can get Pia (my wife) a place attached to stores and with a heated garage and pool."   That was typical Barney who also became a great physician  and remained a dear friend.  

We went to med school in the mid sixties together and always kept in touch. We were all supposed to have lunch together on the day Barney suddenly passed.  Barney and I were also colleagues and attended at the same hospitals during our careers. He was an extraordinary human being who will be missed by many.


Please accept my deepest and sincerest condolences to Barney’s children, grands, his brother Tony and his immediate family.  

The brother’s were raised in exemplary fashion by their dear parents, Dr. Dennis P. MD and Mrs. Marianne Horvath, who bestowed on me their desire to be referred to as Mommie and Popsie. An incredible honour. 

They raised sons that were truly innate gentlemen, and the finest of surgeons. 

It’s been many years, but they all remain in my heart and prayers. 

Barney’s memory will forever remain a blessing to more than can be counted.

This is a complete shock to me! My sympathy to the entire Horvath family. I grew up in Inverrary and played tennis with Barney often. My father, Dr. Golin used to refer patients to him. Barney was also a great Doctor and was my "go to" for many injuries I had. When I visited him at his house in Parkland, it was the first time I rode a horse. What a fantastic Doctor, tennis practice partner and good friend he was to me and my family....RIP my friend!

Steve and I have such wonderful memories of Barney….from the great times in the 70’s at Inverrary Tennis club and recently becoming patients . Our thoughts are with his family..

Tom and I (including everyone else I know!) we're  long time patients of Dr. Horvath.  We will miss him dearly.  He always took care of all our aches and pains.  One time he threatened me that he was going to put me in a cast up to my knee if I didn't stay off my foot which had a hairline fracture!  May you rest in peace dear Barney. Sally and I have known Barney for over 30 years as a friend and neighbor and also our doctor. His passing is a sadness for both of us. Our thoughts for both his children we knew Michael and Missy.
