Betty Jane Mildred Hayes

Betty Jane Hayes, 86, of Coral Springs, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on July 27, 2015. Betty Jane was born October 26, 1928 in Newark, New Jersey to the late Alfred Henry and Dorothy Laura Myers Volk. Betty and her late husband Norman moved to Hollywood Beach, Florida in the mid 1960s where they owned and operated the Nautilus Apartment Motel. Later, they moved to Davie, Florida where they lived for many years and Betty was employed as a library assistant at Broward College. Betty was very active in the Davie United Methodist Church, where she volunteered in the preschool and the pumpkin patch, and she and Norman sang in the choir. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and they took many trips in their Hi-Lo trailer, including several across the country. They were avid members of the Florida Hi-Loafers travel club. Betty and her husband especially enjoyed traveling with their grandchildren and had many happy trips to Beverly Beach & Red Coconuts Beach. Betty loved spending time with her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was adored by her family and will be missed greatly. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Norman Jack Hayes, her dear sister, June Knuth and dear brother, Robert Volk. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving children and their spouses, Michael & Dorothy Hayes and Susan & Robert Zvolensky, loving grandchildren, Melissa Anne Hayes (Stephen Regal), Matthew Joseph (Jennifer) Hayes, Jessica Lynn (Jason) Santiago, Kyle Norman Chamberlain, Robert Dennis (Sharie) Zvolensky, Steven Douglas (Julianne) Zvolensky, great grandchildren, Isabella Anne Regal, Madison Joy Hayes, Bailey Grace Hayes, Emma Lynn Santiago, Hailey Diane Zvolensky, Madalyn Paige Zvolensky and Carly Brynn Zvolensky. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 1, 2015, 1:00 - 2:00pm at Kraeer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 1655 University Drive, Coral Springs where a Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00pm.
