Age 71, died peacefully on March 3, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Linda, their daughters Lauren, Erin, and Megan, son-in-law Jonathan and grandchildren Benjamin and Elizabeth.
Edward was born in Pittsburgh, PA in 1953 to Edward M. Cahill and Mary Holowchak. He grew up in Pittsburgh along with his beloved sisters, Patricia, Kathleen, and Colleen, and is survived by their extended families.
He attended the University of Pittsburgh where he earned a BS degree in 1975. He was a member of the men’s swim team and received a swimming scholarship, but football was his passion. He forfeited his swim scholarship and took a chance as a walk-on to play football. As with everything in his life he was persistent - he made the team and retained the scholarship.
Early in his career Ed was a lifeguard in Wildwood, NJ, and member of the Wildwood Beach Patrole Alumni. He forged lifelong friendships while “sitting wood” on the Jersey Shore and had many great memories that he loved sharing with his family and fellow guards.
He also spent time in Atlantic City, NJ prior to his move to Florida in the early 1980’s. His brokerage career began at Thompson McKinnon which led him to Merrill Lynch. He was a successful and well-regarded Wealth Management Advisor and will be missed by his clients and business associates.
Ed’s personality was as large as he was and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved. He was a loyal friend to many and generous to a fault. He was a hardworking and dedicated father and provided a wonderful life for his family.
Words cannot express the depth of sadness we feel at his loss. Ed was a devout Roman Catholic and our joy is knowing that he is with our Lord in Heaven for all eternity.
